a good reference Ip change

He ran Veg oil for 30 Min, Doh!/, LOL bet he just tried to put it in the tank!!
wonder if he knows about this site??!??

To bad he didn't do the feed the beast mod, while he was in that deep.

Yeah, hes still sporting the filter harness. I dont see how those go for like $75 when you can just get a ferrite bead snap over filter for $5 at radio shack that will likely do as much good. Probably a good idea to snap one around a PMD extension cable too.

Can somebody explain the filter harness/ferrite bead filter to me? I'm a newbie to diesels, been diong a lot of reading here and on other sites, and I think this is the first time I've run into these terms. Thanks to these forums I discovered a couple days ago that the LP on my new to me 94 K2500 p/u is not working. I traced it out to the OPS and now am in the process of finding all the parts to replace and set it up on an extension to make it easier to access.

If you run into problems or want more info should start up another thread.

Your question is pretty open ended. You want to know where it is or what it does? It is just a filter, every electronic componet has filters. And an engine bay with spinning generator is huge source of electro-magnetic interference. It is inline with the optical sensor on top of the IP because it has a high resolution timing circuit that random noise would impact.

Most trucks run fine without one at all. Although mine doesnt have one anymore, I put a cheap snap on ferrite bead over the lines. You can google ferrite bead filters. They are on almost every cable you own that goes to modern electronics. Little black round thing on your USB cables and such.

When replacing the OPS make sure to add a relay that powers the LP rather than the the current going through the OPS. AKA the OPS relay mod.

In your previous post you brought up the term and I had never heard of anything like that in a vehicle before. Was just wondering what it was and what for.

As for the OPS relay mod, it is in process already, along with a SPDT momentary switch for priming the fuel filter after changing.

Thanks for your quick reply.
