DB-electrojunk IP from a 94 is useless to me anyway. Engine was pulled and replaced with a gasser due to IP cost.

Just debating re-ringing mine or dropping this or a Military take out in. Low budget operation, as usual, here…

Not sure what shape mine is in but would need a piston set at least.

I would like to avoid retiming the IP if possible due to lack of tools and 0 trust in local shops.

Does a rebuild/re-ring get me a big difference in power and economy on a 6.5?

Was the 94 engine any better?

The 94 may be the same block if it is a "599". I'd want to pull the oil pan off for inspecting for cracks in the main bearing webs. Without looking you could be buying a boat anchor. Fresh rings are bound to give more power. I doupt the fuel milage difference would be noticable. With a mechanical ip about all there is to timing is lining the marks up. A new cloyes timing chain wouldn't hurt either as long as it out of the truck . Cloyes chain is much tighter than melling.

We have a winner!!! Hell it already HAS been used as a boat anchor! Engine sitting at an angle and the #2 intake runner full of rain water. Small slick of rust floating on it. Did have a tarp over it, but, tarp no good.
