Yet another option I have before me.

I have available to me a '96 long block assembly. Has sheetmetal but no manifolds, IP, injector lines or accessories. A long block assembly.

My '93 is complete. Can I swap and go?

Any help appreciated.

Bump.

Either this question is so very elementary (hey it's a legit question...I'm not a diesel PRO) or this thread is INVISIBLE.

?

I think its the same, if it was a 97 it would have larger oil line fittings for the cooler hoses but 93-96 should be the same. All your 93 stuff will bolt right on

Is the harmonic balancer, cover and sensor on the 96 engine? If so you can just ignore it as long as its there and not leaking oil around it or anything. the 93 setup doesnt need it.

All things will work fine.

Use your 93 injectors and IP
As was mentioned the crank sensor, reluctor wheel in the case etc not needed.

Must use 94 or later ballancer as the snout is shorter than the 92/93 ones.

All the rest will fit and work perfectly.

To get the timing as it was on your old engine you can either wing it or you can mark the cover and the pump from your old engine before removing the IP and then swap the cover to your new engine.

With the older cover you wont have to worry about the crank sensor hole.

Best part of these engines is the mix and match ability.

Late 6.2's used the same heads as the 6.5 and the injector lines and injectors are the same.

Precups are interchangable too (In sets)

Pans will fit between late 6.2 and 6.5 as long as they are 1 piece rear main.

VC's will swap.

Exhaust manifolds will all fit.
Intakes fit.

Good luck and keep us posted

Yes.

Thanks for the help so far. Sorry 'bout being impatient, I needed to know by Wed. the 9th before I committed to buying and hauling this mill home.

Does anybody have dimensions for building an engine cradle? Like block pad to pad locations relative to the rear trans flange?

I'd like to get one fabbed up before I do this. It will also come in handy for temporary storage of my '93 engine.
