I parked my truck in my driveway to get something out of my house. I left the truck running with the lights on. I came back to my truck several minutes later and I had no headlights. I have all of my other lights working properly. The only thing I can find that's possibly the culprit is the headlight dimmer switch seems to have stopped working. Has anyone experienced anything such as this? Thanks for the help

head light harness gnds on the rad core support upper bolts? When they get crappy generally in my case all 4 come on dim and I know it is time to clean them up, I guess possibly they could quit altogether.

All the power from the headlights on these trucks runs threw the headlight switch. On my truck one small, to me sub standard red wire. Mine is black from too much power being sucked threw it. I replaced my switch on my truck but, can not remember why.

There is companies out there that make a mod that takes all the pressure off the switch and puts it on a relay.

Hope this helps, wish you luck!

the headlight switch has a bimetallic switch in it that opens ups when it gets too hot. When I put in oversize bulbs it would start clicking on and off as it heated up and cooled down. I put all my lights on relays so no power goes thru the headlight switch and a suprizing side effect was that the dimmer switch got much quieter.

^^ What Ak said. There's some nasty grease inside the switch that hardens to the point of causing a BUNCH of resistance too.. Clean the switch and/or 'relay it' even with a new headlamp switch.
