I finally tore into an engine I swapped out of an customers truck. It came in with a "low power and Its making a funny noise" complaint. Never looked at they brought a junkyard replacement that I put in. Anyway, I think it is all scrap but looking for others input, here is what I found.........
ALL 5 main bearings spun!
Removed rods, crank with the bearings spin freely in the block.
Crank is scored very badly on the 2nd and 3rd main journal.
none of the rod bearings spun.
cam and lifters all appear good.

Does anyone think this stuff is worth screwing with to build a spare engine or just scrap it. The main thing is I don't remember where the 929 block is on the list for good/bad castings.

Thanks.

Align boring is mandatory after it spins the mains. The 929 block was mid 95 to early 96. From all I found it was pretty similiar to the 599 blocks from 92-early 95. You'll have to weigh the cost of having it align bored VS the cost of another block, and also if you can find a shorter timing chain set for a align bored block.
