I'm not a huge fan of the globally standard 7-way electrical connections for trailers... with the salt and slush up here i find the truck end corrodes pretty easily, and its easy to wiggle into bad connections...

so I bought these 9-way deals both trailer and car and, and I have to say, I LIKE!! long solid stainless rods for the truck end, and deep secure sockets for the trailer end... They are high capacity in terms of juice, and are real easy to wire up. The only downside is that I have to make an adapter in case anyone wants to use my trailer and they don't have a 9 pin socket... i kept my trucks 7-way, and I have the 4-way too, but I like the 9 way hands down... it takes real effort to plug and unplug, so I know I'm getting good contact.

Is anyone else using these? am I stupid? What do you guys think?

the wire colors are grey... and the other lt grn i think?? i have them unconnected for now... but i might make them more 12 V connections if necessary.

You're also going to have to make an adapter in case you use a trailer that has a 7 pin. I just coat mine every now and then with di-electric grease. I don't have any corrosion problems. I haven't coated it in about a year.

I mentioned in my first post that I did keep my 7 way stock set-up on the truck. So I wont need an adapter for that.

In the past I have used the 7-way round pin style. The type from a tractor trailer. They are way better than the 7 way flat blade style. They have way heavier pins and the center pin is even bigger. I had all my stuff set up that way, but I finally gave in. I got tired of my buddies "doing me a favor " and changing them out for me, when they would borrow my trailers. I guess they thought it was a mistake? They are very common and easy to find.

I have always herd that the 7 round was better than the seven flat.

I would like to see the difference of the 9 pin one.

i think the only diff between 7 and 9 round is that there are 2 extra pins... my old truck come with a 7 round set-up, and its pretty much the same exact thing, avec two extra pins. I like it a lot.
