What is the down side to these AC 60G plugs?

It is all that is available to me at the moment. So because I have the injectors out at a local shop; the plugs are being changed. I doubt I will see below 20 degrees with it.

The Bosch will not make it here in time... :mad2:

They require a longer cycle to get the same results. Expect to put a manual glowplug controller in - whether homebuilt or a kit - to get clean start. They'll work in the cold but the engine will struggle on a start...something I don't think is good on the starter or balancer. The nice part is they don't swell and are self-regulating.

Once you get the manual controller installed, I count the time the light stays on and then engage the manual controller an equal amount of time before attempting a start.

I found that on really cold days, that the stock glow time was not enough ( at least in my case ). So I added an extended glow time mod to rectify it. It is nice to have when it is really cold. The 60 G's start the truck way better than the 9 G's did.

60G's with manual override for the really cold days has served me well. Before I added the manaul override in real cold weather it started just like it did with the old factory plugs.

60g's with stock glow time have done fine in NC and we have even been in the teens over night this year. I doubt you would need anything more in AZ. Now if global warming ever lets up, that may be another story. ):h

I run them with factory glow time and have no issues.

X2 - I've never had a problem starting cold with my 60g's...granted, I don't see temps like my 6.5 brother's from the north do....we haven't even had a freeze this winter yet......got down to 36 the other night. We occasionally see some mid to lower 20's and rarely see anything in the teens.

96+ Already have extended glow plug times built into the ECM. 9G's were last used in 95, but most of 95 was 11G's(even some 94's had 11G's). 60G's came out in late 96 and has been the norm since.

I use 60gs in the CUCV. If it's really cold I just cycle the key twice. Starts fine. Of course just removing the 24v ones some idiot put in and puting 12v ones back in made alot of difference....

For Arizona, 60G is sufficient without override. You guys forget to see where WarWagon location.
