6.5T Timing Chain

I've never seen one break, but they all stretch, babied or not, and your timing gets further off over time as the chain develops more slack.

Everyone I know that has changed theirs liked the result. I don't personally know anyone who has done the gear-drive instead of chain, but they are supposed to be a good thing, too.

I just replaced mine at 285,000 miles. It was very loose.[3/4 in. slack] New cloyes chain is quite tight. My 91 6.2 had about 270,000 on it and it was still in usable range[1/2 or less slop]

Did mine at 127K since I was doing the water pump anyway, and I was very happy with the results.

Damn I appeared to have dropped a whole paragraph on save....

It got me a much improved idle, more ass-o-meter power or snappier power and a bit more mileage.

You are to replace the timing chain and injectors every 100,000 mile just food for thought:eek:
