I have a 1998 Chevrolet 3500 crew cab with a 6.5 turbo diesel. I had to change out the wiring harness for the ignition on the steering column. Now the truck starts then as soon as I let go of the key it dies. I have done the 10 minute wait for the system to reboot with the ignition on. I have only 2 months on a another pmd module with the new heat sink. I have opened up the fuel port on the front of the engine and have plenty of fuel. Kinda at a lost right now. Mike

Is the Service Engine Soon Service Throttle Soon light on with the ignition in the "run" position? This indicates power to the ECM. Thinking bad switch, misadjusted, or loose wire for the run position.

No service engine light is on, new wiring harness from under dash to key switch. was having trouble with the truck in the start position that sometimes it didn't work which made me think I had a bad switch,

Has to be the switch. Next time hook up the harness under the column and test it before installing completely. To many NIB parts are POS.

Oh and welcome to TTS

To many NIB parts are POS.

Word. Replaced the multi-function stalk and harness on mine three times before I got a good one, and even this one does stupid stuff sometimes (like allowing the wiper speed control to get out of place if you accidently turn it while switching the high beams - took me six months to figure out why I couldn't turn the switch to the "mist" setting anymore).

The quality of so many replacement electrical system parts these days seems to be very low.
