I have got to say that its the most interesting and agravating BS POS Coolant hose i have had to deal with. . .the replacement is of a much better design. . .

The factory unit is flipping plastic with a copper nipple that pretty much fell inside the plastic a ways and caused it to leak coolant every where. . .

The new Lower hose I got from O'Rielys has a nice 1 peice metal unit.
If you haven't had any low radiator hose issues yet i would strongly recommend replacing it before it fail it make 1 heck of a mess and it ain't fun to change when everything is soaked in hot coolant. . .

one thing I REALLY admire is the effort to post pics-thumbs up on this one:thumbsup: no problems yet, but when I replaced mine, it did look a bit odd on this type setup.

Thank you Sir. . . I love how the copper nipple just pushed right inside the tube itsall loose n sloppy i got to going and i forgot to get photos of the New unit. My just yank off my skid plate and snp a few shots of the new Hose if there is enough interest in seeing the new good design compared to the old not so wise design pictured above. . .

Mike,
Thanks for the post. I have had a coolant smell coming from the engine bay for some time now, but not enough to show a spot on the driveway. Maybe mine is cracked also. I will have to check it out.

BTW-How much was the new hose?

Todd

I Can't really remember i think it was $40 or $70 i was r=a rather pricey hose but seeing the new design its well worth the price. just make sure the "T" is an all steal piece and not the plastic one.

When i bought the truck they told me thats what they it was to i bought the hose a few months ahead of time. . .I got lazy and didn't change it till it started puking coolant yesterday. . .

Aw crud! I wish you'd posted this before I went to all the trouble to get the factory hose. Mine was in good shape, but changing it as PM while putting engine back in. I'll bet the local O'Reilley's won't have one in stock.

I didn't realize the stupid factory one is plastic with a nipple stuck in it. I thought it was a brass piece covered in hose material.

Sucks to be me.

They very well may have it in stock man they stocked mine, Rather they had 3 of them in stock. . .
