Original Detroit diesel green! I'd like to say I was creative butttt, someones avatar inspired me.

well that answers the question brought up in another thread it was thought that the kennedy DSG kit was only the girdle and didnt include the studs good to know that it does

Shouldn't the main studs and girdle be installed to alignhone the main bearings? I believe it is recommended by heath and kennedy. Could you post the ARP part number for the main studs?

i got to thinking about that but the mechinest had me bring the main caps and he had them on and tourqed down so it should all be alignhoned ill ask him about it

In the article (in maxxTorque) on his LSR engine build, Heath also suggests checking the squareness/level of the later GM block's main cap registers - suggesting that many aren't that square.

This makes me wonder if that doesn't also relate to many of the GM blocks still curing/relaxing/moving around a bit dimensionally after they were first put into service.

Has anybody seen odd main bearing wear patterns in blocks they've torn down that showed cracks in the mains?

The studs came with the DSG girdle, don't have a # for just the studs.

I had read some about the align hone and it seems people go both ways. Do people who use ARP main studs without a girdle align hone?
This is an after market block and I already have main bearings for it but if it is a must I can still do it.
