6.5 pyrometer thermocouple choices - straight or 90? 1/8 or 1/4 thread?

After looking at many different gauges I am going with some made by Hewitt Industries for a pillar pod of fuel pressure, turbo boost, and pyrometer. The thermocouple for the pyrometer is sold separately and there are several options. The first choice is whether the thermocouple lead comes straight off the probe or has a 90 degree bend. As near as I can tell the Autometer thermocouple has a bend to it and is not straight. So, I am thinking that the 90 degree bend is the one to choose. Any suggestions or does anyone think the straight model would be better?

Also, the thermocouples are offered in both 1/8 and 1/4 NPT versions. Like most of the ones I see here I plan to drill into the right manifold pad to mount it and am thinking that the 1/8 size will be easier to drill. Any negatives to the 1/8? Thanks.
