My oil cap on my 95 Suburban needs to be replaced. Does the new cap need to be vented or can I just pick up a regular cap from Autozone or somewhere??

6.5 and 6.2 oil caps are weird. Both 6.2 and 6.5 caps fit and I suggest you look for used or NOS with the pressure vent. Most will vent excess pressure and seal on vacuum. (6.5 caps I have opened up are like this and the reason they, 6.2 caps, rattle is the disc that opens on pressure.) So the real question is how much blowby you got? Get the standard replacement sealed cap that IMO ignorantly gets sold by say reputable places like LMC Truck and other way worse scum like fire Veteran Hero's Autozone with their below bottom of bucket parts quality and the pressure from blowby can start oil leaks esp. at the rear main and front crank seal as well as pushing the dipstick out. Been there PO's done that and have 2 frames coated in oil dirt cake from high blowby engines and solid oil fill caps.

It's possible the 6.2 caps open for excess vacuum, but, I doubt it. They are huge as this 1985 example 6.2 cap here. IMO the huge is used to reduce the oil vapor mess.
