Hey Guys I got my first project truck on the go, its a 88 k3500 frame, 93 6.5 td engine, and a 97 3dr ext cab long box. When I bought the truck the guys before me had the wastegate wide open so basically no boost. I got a turbo master boost controller and hooked it up with a boost gauge and dialed it in to 12 psi. I also got rid of the stock air intake and added an aftermarket one. At first i left the crank case gases free instead of going into the turbo after the filter and colllected them in a special can. there was so much gas pouring out of the hose and oil it was ridiculous. The oil was also coming out of the top of the dipstick. i figured that this meant one of the rings were cooked. but no loss of power. today i rerouted the crank case gas hose back into the turbo after the filter and almost all the blow by from the dipstick has dissappeared, and still great power. What do you think rings blown? Any help would be appreciated as this is my first truck project!

You can do a blowby test by putting a 5-6ft long clear hose over the dipstick and run it over the fender down into a bucket of water on the floor. With the engine at operating temp rev to 2000k and observe water. if it rises in the hose engine is fine if not or oif it is blowing air buubles in the water then you need to clean or replace CDR (tuna can shaped pvc device) if it still blows bubbles rings are getting worn.

Thanks I have already replaced the tuna can, but i will do theat test to see how bad the rings are worn, thanks for the great info!
