6.0 Gm/ Cadillac engine

Should be. Just keep in mind there was 2 different 6.0L's built at that time. The iron block truck motor at 300HP, and the all aluminum half ton engine at 345HP(I believe the 6.0L that made it into the trailblazer and possibly some cars was basically the all aluminum 6.0L like the 1500's used).

The escalade is just a fancied up truck, so yes its a truck engine. Should be the 345hp version in it.

If it has active fuel management (turns off cylinders), get UOA before buying. Scuttlebutt is that around 80K, the motors with AFM start to consume oil and the cure is to disable it.

Ok thanks guys. Trying to go see it today, have to treat this one nicer than our 01 burb was if we get it.

The all aluminium 6.0 is called an L76 in the VortecMax. I have one in the wings waiting for my "super car build" :)

An Escalade should have the LQ9, which is an iron block, 345 HP engine, shared with the GMC Denalis and Silverado SS. The LQ4 is what was used in the 1500HD+ Trucks and 2500 Suburbans.

Post #9: http://ls1tech.com/forums/general-l...509-lq4-lq9-what-differences-between-two.html

The TB SS 6.0L was the LS2, identical to the Corvette engine, with the exception of a different intake manifold. Rated at 395 HP in the Trailblazer.

The VortecMax was the L76, rated at 360 HP, with Active Fuel Management (Cylinder Shutdown), shared with the G8 GT. The Caprice has the L77, which was also a 6.0, only difference was the L77 is Flex-Fuel. The G8 GXP got the 6.2L LS3. Same as the manual Camaro, but available in both the Auto and Manual. LS3 did not have AFM. The Automatic Camaros got the L99, which was rated at 400 HP, and had AFM.

The other thing with those Escalades and Denalis is that they're full-time AWD, not selectable 4WD.
