I see everyone runs 4" exhaust but did anyone try 5"? I like the way the bigger exhaust looks.

4" is plenty for the 6.5, 5" exhaust would be a waste of money and pretty much over kill.

The downpipes on these are 3", the outlet on the turbo is even smaller iirc. putting a 5" exhaust won't gain anything but many a deeper tone. With you having a suburban, you was get a lot of cab noise with a straight 5" pipe, i think guys with suburbans like to run a muffler on a 4" system because it resonates to much.

I ran a 5" on my Duramax. PIA to install and clear everything. 5" Said to do nothing for EGT's and power over 4". Bigger is better to a point. Getting it to fit would be the pain.

Thanks guys for the input. I just like the way the 5" looks but I think you are right.

I just figured someone tried it before. Maybe not?

Anyone else?

Just 5" stacks on my pickup. Up to the Y-pipe is all 4". Like the other's said 4" is plenty.

I have four inch back to my 5 inch stack, you wont be able to fit 5 inch as my inch rubs on the floor pans and frame crossovers, very tight fit

I am going to be checking the burban out tom. I am going to take measurements and check other things while it is in the garage.

I have a 6 inch tip.

You won't see it except at the exhaust tip, so just slam in a 4" system and put a 5" tip on it (nicely chromed, of course!)

-Rob :)

(Edit - I had a typo in there - it should be a 4" system with a 5" tip)

What about one of those fart tips for the rice burners? ):h

Oh PLEEEZE, not one of those. I dislike those.

-Rob :)

P.S. Sometimes guys who drive ricers kid me about my 'redneck' rig (the Tahoe). I just tell them it's a trade-off of speed vs. power. Yes, they can do fast, but when I catch them, I can hook a chain to their axle and drag them around all day, no problem.

I always say lets hook up a trailer with 10,000lbs and then we will drag race.

I have 4" to the 2nd crossmember and then 5" that curves out to the side of the truck. It wont fit before that, would be a pain to go over the axle. And it is unnecessary I'd say. Mine goes to 6" tip out the side. Its loud, especially with the ATT. I'd stick to 4", 5" just made it more expensive.
