I do believe there are some threads about that, but unfortunately, 4WD is too short a word for the search engine... so I found nothing.

Problem is on a 1997 K1500 : 4WD doesn't engage.
First, we heard and get nothing engaging when trying to lock 4wd, Hi or Low. We checked and found good the set of switches, but we change it to be sure. No success.

The guy put on a brand new actuator. A bit better as he can now hear something clicking, but still no 4WD.

Any thought ?

push buttons look fine, but were replaced with new ones

New ones, or new ones from another truck?

The reason I ask is these units are very susceptible to cold solder joints in the switch which cause continuity problems. Mine was acting the same way until I took the switch apart and resoldered the joints.

Is this the same truck you were/did take the front axle apart to replace seals?

Fuses? when my actuator went it kept taking out the fuse. Same with an old Jimmy I had when the switch went on it, it would pop the fuse (only when truck got warmed up) when truck was cold it would engage fine.

"new ones" from another truck, fully working on the other. Exchange in fact. The "old ones" work on the other truck too.
Yes, this is the one on which seals were replaced.
