Thanks for taking the time to read my post. My question is, is putting the 4 inch exhaust and k47 airbox worth the money for me? My 95 sub now has about 213,000 miles on her and is running very well at the moment. I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time. I don´t pull anything heavy and rarely even carry much weight inside. I will be driving to the USA this year but normally I don´t drive long distances in this truck (I save that for my wifes Jetta TDI:hihi:) maybe 6000 miles a year.
So what do you all think. Si o No.

Thanks again. gus

x2 on the MPG plus reduced EGTs and lower water temps. At least that was my experience with the 4" exhaust upgrade alone.

The exhaust would be a good help. IMO the box filter might be restrictive with a chip or towing but for just driving around I saw no difference. The only advantage was loaded for me.

The exhaust?

On a stock daily driver only?

Nah, you can do without it.

The filter?

Well, if you have a panel style filter, I'd go to the K47 for better filtering.

Performance? If you want more, get both.

But don't expect a huge difference or to get enough MPG increase to make up the 3-500 bucks the upgrades will cost you. 3-500 bucks is a lot of miles when you're talking about gaining 1-2 ish mpg.....

I'll disagree with you on this one. You can realisticly see 2 MPG increase. On his 43 gallon tank that could get you an extra 86 miles per tank. At 18MPG you burn 4.8 gallons of fuel to go 86 miles. 4.8 gallons at $3.80 is $18.15. It would take 16 tanks to pay for a $299 4"exhaust. Most of us can go at most 2 weeks between a fill up. 8 months to pay off aint bad.
So, if you have to drive it anyway you might as well do it burning less fuel and saving money in the long run.
One of the cheapest things you can do and get the biggest return is to add 195* tstats if you don't have them.
I went from 180* to 195* and get 3MPG better now.

That's cool bro.

For my regular usage, your numbers would work out to 16 months to pay of off. Assuming a 2 mpg increase.

I get a month on a full tank.

I haven't even burnt off a tank yet with the 4 incher, so it could be more, could be less.

Time will tell.

Interesting on the 195's. I figure my 98 must have 180's in it as I can never even get close to 195.

For 3 mpg multiplied over 7000 kms, I might see if switching them out will help. That trip will also hopefully recoup the cost of the exhaust....

Definately depends how much you drive as to how quick the pay off is.

I was shocked at the MPG increase from changing the tstats. Best $15 I've spent.

Thanks for all the replys. I think I´ll go for it. Interesting what Leroy said about the 195 tstats. I put a AC Delco 190 in my single tstat application. Thats what popped up for my truck at the Rock Auto site.

Anybody know where I can get a 2.5 mandrel bent crossover pipe?

PS Leroy check your PMs.

I got my crossover on ebay. I wouldnt worry too much about the crossover unless its rotting out or something, living where you do i dont think there is any salt down there. I didnt notice any improvement from upgrading mine to the 2.5'' crossover from stock. Ive done many mods to my truck and have gotten a good increase in mileage. I think its mostly due to me having 3.42 gears and driving in the country where there are tons of hills. Stock the truck did horrible on the hills, now it performs much better. The K47 and exhaust is a very good start. I still have to find time to junk my 180 stat for the 195 i bought a month ago..
