Did they ever make a 6.5 Diesel 4 Door Tahoe? I've only ever seen 2 doors and 'Burbs, but that doesn't mean they didn't. Anyone know for sure? If they did, I'd love to find one.

Sorry if this isn't in the right section. Not a regular in here. ;)

I am almost certain they only made a 2 door Tahoe/Yukon with a 6.5td and both Chevy and GMC suburbans with a 6.5td. I have owned a 4 door Yukon/Tahoe and there is not to much difference in the size than the Suburban I own now, maybe 2 feet and easier to get in and out of the back. IMO you would not notice much difference. This is my 3rd one and its hard to find anything else I would like to drive! (besides my hotrod pick-up)

I had a 98 Tahoe for about a year and a half, as my first vehicle. I enjoyed it more than our family's 02 Sub, a little more proportional. Just a personal preference. I'm just curious for now, I have my DD 03 SSEi, and I have dad's Duramax and Mom's Suburban for the stuff I need those for. This is just more out of curiosity than anything. ;)

Lets put 1995-1999 in perspective. You could not hardly steal a Yukon or Tahoe in 1997 let alone buy one. They were that hot and hard to come by. Dealers got what they asked for them. You had to have friends and $$$ in low places to obtain one.

Perhaps with being unable to keep up with demand GM let the 4 door 6.5 option slide. The 200HP TBI 350 gasser delivered trouble free operation and decent enough economy. Obsolete pushrod design capable of 1 million miles as some have taken their 350 there. Out HP but under torque the 6.5. The waterpump uneven flow flaw, and EGR failure was the only problems I had with the engine. Brakes and AC kept me busy though.

The 2 foot shorter makes the 4 door Yukon/Tahoe easier to park. The back seat is cramped. I like the back seat of a Trailblazer better than the Yukon back seat for comfort on long trips. My mom loved our 95 Yukon over a 94 Suburban. The Burb was just too long for her.

1995 was the 1st year for 4 Door.

6.5 Diesel was only a 2 Door option and dropped as well as the 2 Door options in 1997-1998.

Better question: Is Wikipedia correct with 6.5's in "2-door 4WD Tahoe only" (Tahoe meaning/including Yukon in context.) Was there a 2WD 6.5 2 door?

The only Tahoe with a 6.5 was the 2 door. (Basically the successor to the K5 lineup)

If GM had offered the 6.5 in the 4 door Tahoe, it would have sold well me thinks.

GM decided not to go through the EPA certification process on the 4 door Tahoe.

As mentioned, a 2 door tahoe with a 6.5 was tough to find. About the only way you got one was to order it and wait about 3-5 months.

I would love to own a 95 2 door Tahoe with the 6.5

I know of one 4 door Tahoe diesel around here. This was a put together truck.

The Tahoe had a small electrical short that resulted in a meltdown of the dash wiring and such.

The guy canibalized a diesel Burb that had sustained major body damage in a rollover.

He swapped the wiring along with the engine, tranny and the computer/s all into the Tahoe.
IIRC he had to buy a new radiator as the Donor one was damaged.

Looked just like it came from the factory. The owner even went to the trouble to install all the factory underhood and door jam stickers.

He used to drive the DMV emissions checkers crazy with that thing.

This truck was detailed out so well that you could not tell that it was supposed to be a gasser.

Except the vin tag.

I think the fellow still has the truck.

Never was a 4 door diesel TAHOE stock due to the different configuration they had to use in them for the torsion bar crossmember.
