Need new tires. Choices are 285 BFG's or 265 BFG's or 255-85 coopers.
Will the 285's go on a Sub with no rubbing? How much will my mileage be affected, currently have 245's. I had 285 dunlops on my '95 k1500 and still got decent mpg. Any one got a picture of 285's on a Sub?

Got 285/70R16 Kelly Safri AWR's Load Range D on my Blazer with no problems at all and no lift. Plenty of room. Love these tires because of ultra-smooth running on the highway and good all around traction. As a side benifit my speedo is now 100% accurate verified by GPS and mile marker counting.

Look into 235/85R16's too. My truck came with 'em and they are a pretty good size. I might go with a 255/85R16 next time though. The pizza cutters work great at finding traction in the snow though, and I'm sure they are good for milage. I've got pics in my photo album.

I have 235/85s "E" as well. I cannot complain. Handles about the same. Looks a little better than the 245s. Speedo is more accurate.

The down side is that they are not very wide compared to a 265 or 285. Those just look tougher, granted with a bigger contact patch probably eat more fuel.

I have 285/75/16, and with my little lift, I get rubbing up front(rear of front fender) on a hard turn with a bump

I experienced the same with my 95 Burb. However, for 99.99% of the driving I did, they worked just fine.

They rubbed most often when turning into driveway approaches with a bit of a bump. I don't recall if I ever heard them rub otherwise.

Yeah and now that they have worn down a bit, I haven't even noticed a rub on a turn in a long time.

How hard is it to crank the front tbars up on my 3500 and how bad is it ? I need tires badly and want to put 265s on it but am afraid front tires will rub with plow on. Never screwed with Tbars.

Turn in a bolt. Did it on my last truck, and it was about the simplest thing I've done. Rust could be an issue, but it wasn't on my 2001 Z71 that had lived it's life in MN and WI.

What do you do even # of turns on each side ? Also is it bad for the front end ? I don't care if it rides a little rougher just don't want to burn up the cv's. I hear mixed views on wether that affects it or not.

If the weight of the plow causes the front end to sag you can correct it by adjusting the torsion bars. When you bring it back up to stock height 265s shouldn't be a problem. Someone with a similar truck should be able to measure from the center of the wheel/hub up to the lip on the fender, giving you an idea on how much you need to compensate for the plow.

i run 265's on my 93....no rub at all...i don't have a plow...i don't think you'll have any trouble with the front.....now they will touch in the back if you don't have spacers...i have 2" Fred's steel spacers....have had some wicked loads(15,000 and more) on it in the woods goin' through ruts and over logs...haven't broke 1 off yet...
