just a FYI- rented 1 for a week. My 2001 suburban blew the radiator apart on my way out of town last week to go see the big California red woods. A total trip worth taking if you never been. Anyways the ford had ok power, cruised 85 no problem. But No where near as comfortable as any gmt400 or gmt800 series. 14 mpg, 15 if you drive grandma style on real fuel not ethonal. I pick up the suburban tomorrow with new radiator in it. Couldn't take a pic with the furd in it so...

My 2 boys. Worlds largest tree is up there (in mass not height). Even the 15 year old said afterwards "ok, I guess that was a little cool..."
 
I've been wanting to see that for over forty years. Its such a long drive for me. I have been trying to decide on slide in camper or trailer. Cool Pic.
 
I have heard from many in the past year or so since these engines came out that these Ford ECOBOOST V6 engines have been blowing up like crazy. Anyone else hear these rumors?

It was a rental, so you know i tried to blow it up. It had descent acceleration. I thought it was a small 8cyl until i popped the hood. Something that stood out was in the center on the fan shroud in the fuse block. Great for electrical diagnosis, but must be horibke to workmon for everything else with it in the way.
 
Bumped into a guy that switched out of his GMT400 Burb with a 454 for the 150 with ecoboost. Said he missed the 454 but it struggled in the mountains with his RV in tow (did not want to shed heat well enough) and the 150 ecoboost (purchased new with 3/4 ton rigging) easily walked up the same grades with the RV in tow.
 
Those little turbo v6's actually put out pretty good power.
Not saying I would buy one over a diesel, but the technology has come a long ways. Just look at the new turbo 4 banger mustangs. Pretty impressive.

2 less cylinders though. They are nicknamed Ecoboom because they run so lean they blow up.
The power from the Ecoboom is high up in the RPM band, verses the big block low end grunt.
Their used to be an old saying, "There is no replacement for displacement." Something like that. :)
