Well folks, I'm getting a little rusty here. So, I'm enlisting some helpful ideas from folks. There isn't really a no-start problem. It starts every time. I just takes a whole lot longer to get it started than any other 6.5 in driveway history. Bus 1 started in like half-a-crank, and so does the Suburban. The service truck is crank, crank, crank, start. Never had a no-start issue, but it takes seconds on the starter rather than the usual quick zip and it's running. All my 6.5's have even in the coldest of weather start in less than 1 second. This one takes 2-4 seconds to start.

Every once in a while I get a little blip where it's like a cylinder hits harder than the rest at idle. It only happens like once a week maybe. I've even seen the SES light flicker when I've heard that sudden spike. No codes, runs fine.

So, call me picky, but I like my stuff running top notch. Considering it's my bread and butter, I want it better than top notch.

Here's what I have.

Problem: Explain your problem in concise language (ie: Cranks but won’t fire). ____Takes more cranking than all other 6.5's to start________________________

- Where are you located? _DELAWARE

General maintenance: inspect and evaluate the condition of each. When were they last changed?
- Air filter _GOOD
- Fuel filter ____FRESH (1 MONTH <1000 MILES)_____
- CDR Valve? __UNKNOWN
- Coolant – last flushed/replaced at _UNKNOWN
- Oil – synthetic/regular, changed at ________SYNTHETIC___

- Battery cables and grounds (removed, cleaned and tightened): __FRESH & CLEANED THE BACK FRAME RAIL GROUND.
- Glow Plugs - how many miles on them? _________ What type? __REPLACED BY P/O, BUT DID NOT NOTE WHICH ONES.
- Injectors - last changed at ___REPLACED, BY P/O DON'T KNOW IF STOCK PRESSURE OR HIGH POPS

History: (Describe how the problem first appeared.)
- What were you doing when it happened? _ANYWHERE
- How was the truck running fine before this problem appeared? __PERFECT OTHERWISE
- Has this problem ever happened before? _______________________
- Describe any related factors that might be part of the problem. __IMMEDIATE SHUT DOWN AND RESTART, FIRES QUICKLY. SITS FOR LONG, LONGER CRANK TIME/ HOT OR COLD.
- Have you checked for DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)? (Y.N) __Y__ And? __NONE STORED

List and describe any other factors which are not addressed in this checklist. We can’t see, hear, smell, or touch your truck, so the more descriptive information you can give, the more likely it is that somebody can assist you.

Soot trap gutted. While running, exhaust smells good and clean, as if the soot trap is still installed. Engine runs great, no other issues to report. Cranking speed very good with new batteries, but no change in the length of time required to fire. Anything I'm missing?

Thanks in advance ya'll! Miss spending time on here.

It's probably more difficult in a van but I would put a clear hose on the IP return line to check for air.

Hi Kevin! Good to see ya around!

Timing is possible. (TDCO)
Air leak is possible. (supply-side leak would result in taking a moment to get pressure back up)

Obviously, you've looked at the other easy stuff... here's a few more thoughts:

-- When you get it started, then shut it off quick, let it sit a few minutes, then try to start, does it still take extra time? If so, then maybe glows. If not, then maybe fuel.
-- Have you tried putting a temporary switch/jumper to the LP and letting it run the supply side up to pressure before you turn the key and try to start it?
-- I almost hate to ask you, but have you checked/cleaned the grounds?

Injector and glows plug quality might be in question if from unknown origin. Otherwise most of the other possibilities have been covered.
