1998 Suburban, with the transmission out, is having issues.
I've been running every couple of days for 1/2 hour or so.
After the snow melted, Cj Noticed a spot under the Suburban that looked like a diesel fuel stain in the gravel.
I was going to run it today. It hasn't been run in several days - almost a week - and checked fluids first. The coolant cap had pressure and was full to the cap. The oil was also overfull.
The last time it ran it was revving to wide open throttle for a couple of seconds every few minutes. I thought it was a PMD thing.
I'm pretty sure this is related to the fluid spot under the Suburban

Any ideas?

Here is my experience....I had one that would over rev while driving, (found out had wrong chip and bad IP) it cracked the heads around the bas of the valve springs under the rocker covers not between the valves like normal.
Fuel leak from the IP weap hole running down the valley and down the back of the block???

Maybe grounds are off or loose from removing the trans dip stick tube???

Haven't removed the transmission yet, The Suburban is sitting waiting to reach the top of the to do list

I see, I worded this post incorrectly. Instead of saying the transmission was out, I should have said the transmission is bad. The next time I was going to try moving the Suburban, was to try to drive it into the shed when it reached the top of the list for the transmission

If you have pressure in the cooling system you could have a bad head gasket. Make sure your fuel lines did not dry rot in the valley and back of the motor.
