Hi All,

First let me tell you what I have for a vehicle, 1996 K2500 6.5 TD 14 bolt F/F with 8 lugs. the leafs that I have on there now are 5+1 and are stock as far as I know and the vehicle is rated 9000 GVW. I thought that I would ask this question here as I know there is a ton:hihi: of experience that alot of people have. I'm going to be adding a dump insert to my truck which weighs about 600 LBS. The springs that are on there now look to be in decent shape but they do have 200,000+ miles on them. I would like to either add more leafs, change springs or add a set of helper springs to the truck but I really don't know what path to take. I've done some basic research on new springs and looked at the various aftermarket helper spring setups and I would like to get other peoples views and or reviews on this. Thanks for any help

Dan

At risk of being accused of being salesman by mentioning it again www.activesuspension.com is what I run on my truck with 5600# on rear axle connected to the GN trailer I sit dead level when moving my backhoe thing I like about them is passive do not effect the ride and do not come into play until you put a load on them KISS operation; no air up or down like bags require and handling is improved as advertised. Easily installed in a afternoon with hand tools

I would add a couple full length leafs to the pack, 2nd and 3rd. Bags are nice but leafs are simple and work.

Some may accuse you of having part ownership of the company, I seem to recall that accusation about a certain turbo.:)

So I did find what I needed. I went with the Roadmaster setup. I got an EZ Dumper sitting in the truck right now, not bolted in yet though. I also got a new st of Bilstein's along with a new set of tires, 285/55
r16's. I haven't been able to install anything yet except for the tires due to an ice storm we had on Monday, I went to take a step off my porch and down I went, broke one rib and severly bruised the whole left side of my back. The tires are a real nice fit but I am going to have to remove my frony mud flaps as they do rub when turning. I'll try and snap some pictures when I'm back on my feet.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Ouch.

Hope you heal fast. Don't let them feed you any coumadin or warfarin while your on the mend.

I fell and broke 5 ribs July 3rd 2008. 4 of the ribs had about 1/4" gaps. I've known your pain.
