On the 96 & up they have that stupid high side charge port that is almost gauanteed to leak. I want to eliminate it. Have you guys heard of an adapter that bolts in place of the hose manifold on compressor? You can then modify the hoses with schrader (sp?) valves in both high and low side ports.
My local a/c guy says he has such an animal, but he is still 35 miles from here and I'd like to see a picture online first.

Also, is there a more effecient condenser and or evaporator we can retrofit in our old trucks? Maybe something out of a 2007 for example?

I see Sander makes a replacement for the HT6, anyone run one?

I NEVER hook up to them because of how often they leak. I keep 2 spares in my tool box because they fail that often. GM really screwed up when they put it right at teh compressor outlet because that hot high pressure refrigerant right there really takes a toll on them. I plan on finding a plug for mine one day because like I said, I never use it for charging anyways.

Just got back from A/C place. I found an even better cure than the aluminium block and hose mod and way cheaper too!
Its a direct replacement for the GM part. Its a true schrader valve not the POS the factory put on them and at $8 the price was much better. Hopefully this works much better.

Did you get a part number for it? I've been looking for awhile now for a better replacement. That stupid rubber valve inside an aluminum block is a poor design to say the least. And I think they charged me more than $8 for the last 2 I bought. I'm getting tired of changing these things out every year it seems like.

X2 on a P/N!

Any wear particles coming out of the compressor also likes to muck up the high side service valves.
We buy a bag of like qty 100 schrader valves on fleabay and change the high side after sucking down the AC system every single time. The recovery unit we have charges on the high side port. Saves us time as it is going to leak if we don't better than 50% of the time.

Did'int get a part # yesterday he just had a bunch of em in a plastic bin. Reached in and grabed two for me. I'll call him to see if I can get a # for you.
