My neighbors truck is acting like it needs an IP.

A few things about the truck, no EGR valve OEM pump with 103K on the motor & pump.

The truck started surging hunting pretty bad 2 weeks ago, can not hold a steady RPM with it over 1200 or so.

His truck is OBD2 so my GMDT scan tool is useless.

No SES light, it starts fine, but hunts cold & gets slightly better after it warms up.

I checked what I have learned over the past years here on the forum.

Found his LP was bad, don't know for how long, so we replaced that. No love

Today I did a few other things, it's looking like the IP is bad to me but thought maybe someone here would have a suggestion?

So here is what has been done so far, still can not hold steady RPM's with it.

New so far & it needed all these things anyways:

Fuel, Air filter & LP. Checked supply press 5 lbs at idle 3 under load. Checked for air in the fuel & removed tank cap, no love.
Turbo & wastgate checks fine
Pulled the plug on the coolent sensor located next the T stat housing nutta no change
Pulled off the filter harness from the Optic sensor no change
Hooked up my PMD no luck again :(

Getting him prepared to go see the local stanadyne dealer next unless I missed something else to check...?

We might be able to gain access to a scan tool, so that is also on our agenda...

Anyone got any other suggestions???

TIA,
Greg

I carry an OBDII scan tool with me at all times. You're welcome to stop in Mokena and borrow it tomorrow. I'll be there 0700-1600

Follow up...neighbor took the truck in to some shop in Joliet...$1600 later it's fixed with a new IP. What an idiot!

There is NO fricking way I am paying that price if or when mine chits the bed...I just can't go there for a $700 part. That is just a screwing no matter how ya size it up...no ky jelly not even a cheeseburger with it.
