Alright guys fix me up. I bought this thing about 2 months ago and have gone through it pretty well. I have remote mounted PMD which I installed right after I bought it. I have since done all the filters and routine maintenance on the vehicle. I then installed new glows and injectors and cleaned all the grounds and did the battery post mods. Yesterday I installed a new AC lift pump because mine was loud and weak. Today on 2 different occasions it died on me once when letting off the throttle approaching a red light and the other time coming off a hill to cross a railroad track. This is the first time it has happened since I have owned it. Any relation to the new fuel pump? I drove it about 2 hours last night (the day the pump was installed) and it did fine, no problems. What has happened?

Also I filled up with fuel today before this happened. I got fuel at the same place I always do and I always add the Standadyne fuel treatment like always. I did notice I had a good bit of vacuum in the tank when I opened the cap.

have you tested fuel pressure of the LP with a vac/fuel pump guage?

Also, make sure your OPS is working by checking for 14V on pin G of the OBD1 port (bottom left) when the truck is running. If no voltage the OPS is not working.

How did you remote mount, was it a new PMD, premade extension cable?

Do you have a Diesel Fuel cap? Is it ULSD? Try running 1/2 to 1 quart of TCW3 2-cycle oil in the fuel.

There could be a pinhole leak upstream of the LP,letting in some air ,or the Lp is not capable of drawing fuel cause of that large vacuum you'r not suppose to have. Get other cap or leave the cap loose.
Check fuel pressure, and for air at the filter if she dies again.

Have not tested fuel pressure with the new pump. Have a lot better flow when bleeding after install than with old one. The remote mounted PMD is a new one with a harness from Pensacola Diesel. I do have a diesel cap and I meant to run it loose on the way home tonight and forgot to do it. I will check for a air leak. Don't have a fuel leak when sitting. I have noticed a vacuum in the tank before but I thought it seemed worse today when I got fuel. Could the new pump change that? Oil pressure switch is nearly new AC Delco. I know it works because I put the truck in drive and ignition to start to bleed the system yesterday plus it runs after shutdown for a few seconds.

the new LP prob moves more fuel.

I got a fuel gauge in the cab,run about 4 psi at 2000 rpm.I always leave the cap loose.

Last week my doughter used the truck and filled the tank, On my way home the fuel pressure dropped slowly to 0 psi . I got thinking WTF, AH fuel cap tight ? YES sir ,loosened it up , fuel press right back to 4 .Engine ran better too.
This was on my 95.

Also make sure that the new PMD extension cable is zip tied somewhere to reduce the chance of rubbing against hot metal.

Problem solved. Battery cable bolt to battery got loose and actually fell out. DUUUHHH!!!

Do some searches for Battery mod, or side-post mod. Replaces that bolt with a real bolt and 2 nuts that NEVER come loose again. A great mod to do, that literally costs under 5 dollars.

I have removed all the rubber before this happened but I used a bolt and a nylon lock nut. The bolt backed out and there you have it. Should have gone with the stud and 2 nuts I guess. Is the guy that invented the side post still alive? We should all look him up some day and .....well you know introduce ourselves. I have had more trouble with that design than any other GM has ever developed. Makes no difference what vehicle its in its the same problem.

You need to leave the nut far up the shank, then bottom and torque the bolt out in the batt, then tighten the nut to clamp the cable down.It should not come loose again.
