Hi,
1994 chevy sub K1500 4x4 Auto 4L80E 6.5TD (engine was 5.7L gas)
Recently and after a long drive I noticed my car had developed a lots of noise from under the engine/transfer case,
Looking at it with the engine running idle I noticed the Starter Ring Gear wobbles badly,
also it always dripped oil from the area of the transfer case/flywheel
the car starts fine and drives ok apart from the deafening noise.

any ideas please?

thank you.

Be aware the 6.5 flex plate is different from a gas engine. Tooth count and starter are different. Any 6.2 or 6.5 flex plate will work from 1982 on. Gas ones will blow the starter clean off the engine breaking things to do so...

Thanks guys,

I 've also been told that there are bolts that hold the starter ring gear that might be loose? do you guys know about these bolts?

I am trying to remove the inspection plate over the big wheel that connects to the starter motor but the exhaust pipe is in the way
removing it is proving very dificult, I already broke one bolt!

How easy/dificult to replace the flex plate without pulling engine/tranny?

thanks
