Hi there,

Lately - my 1994 K1500 chevy 6.5TD and 4L60E auto tranny (4x4) was getting very noisy from the back of the engine area,
when we took inspection cover out we found the flexplate was broken around the bolts (three of them) that hold it to the TC,

1. any easy way to replace the plate?

2. It is likely to happen again? if so is there anything we can do to prevent that?

bear in mind this vehicle was converted from 5.7L gas to Diesel about two years ago before I bought.

Many thanks.

on some engines you can unbolt the torque convertor and push it into the tranny farther and get enough room to undo the bolts that hold the flexplate on. You would need to rotate the engine it to get access to the bolts. never done a 6.5 so I don't know for sure

I had the same issue about 2 years ago, had to separate the tranny from the motor to get at mine. Drop driveshaft and pull tranny mount off trans and slide back on a jack w/boardunder trans pan. Took most of a day to do by myself. Don't forget to support the motor too.
