Hey all,

I saved a 94 K2500 6.5L suburban from a Marketplace part out, was a bad OPS that eventually caused a bad PMD, applied Leroydiesel.com solutions to both, and it runs like a champ.
However, the seller claimed the transmission was in good shape, and at the time it died and was parked 10 years ago, Im sure it was, guy seemed like a straight shooter.

Now that its going again, it is pretty slow to engage, and sometimes reacts differently, sometimes taking right off, sometimes needing throttle. I definitely at least plan on a fluid and filter change assuming the filter is half plugged and the suction gasket is hard and brittle, but was curious while I had the pan down if I should go further and replace some solenoids and the internal harness? Do you think there is a good chance of clutch material clogging the solenoid screens? Also, I am a manual transmission fan (for this among many reasons ;) ) so I have no idea what Im doing inside an automatic, so a little guidance of difficulty level of the tasks would be appreciated.

I also intend on doing similar maintenance to a perfect shifting 1995 unit in a 454 K2500 suburban, so even if this 94 unit is too far gone, Id still appreciate the preventive maintenance advice so I can apply it to the 1995 unit.

im not expecting miracles, as it has 320K on a broken odometer, so who knows what the actual mileage is, but if a guy could get a couple more years out of it, that would be awesome.

Thanks!

I've never had much luck reviving an auto trans with a fluid change.

Even though I always changed my trans fluid and filters, I still never made it over 300,000 on an automatic transmission.

I'd just change the filter and see what it does.
