On my 1991 in signature, i am wiring up a Tekonsha Envoy brake controller. on the "underdash electrical center" (idk the official name) where do i put a connector to pick up the brake signal? i really do not want to splice into the harness.

any help appreciated, thank you!

As far as I know, there is no other way but to splice into the harness. It's not too hard to find the orange and white wires coming from the brake switch. This is the only application that I will use the blue 3M splicers.I'm pretty shure it's the orange wire that is used for the controller signal.
You could use a 12 volt test light to see if any plugs in the convience center have the brake light power in them.

Later trucks you can go into the fuse box and tap in, I'm not sure where tap would be for the earlier model, I have a Prodigy control myself, last time I looked they had a good tech area at their website showing how to hook up brake controllers

They are easier to install than you think.

I used the brake wire under the dash. You will need to tap the white wire. Use the link below to find it.

Then you need to wire up the ground and power. I used a resettable fuse for the power with the wire coming from the battery. The ground is self explanatory.

I just did my truck.

I was planning on doing a write up on it just waiting for some funds for some extra stuff I want to add before I show off my work.

I wonder if the OP already figured this out or forgot about this post?

No, not yet! 6 .5 fever hit hard soon after, and gas stuff took a back burner. I am aware, and have done the 95 up no slice connection, haven't played with the older ones as far as brake controllers go. Maybe this fall, combining in Idaho right now, great weather, no Internet, 95 is about to loose a tranny, but by god it beat the empty peterbilt up the 7 percent buhl Idaho to Wendell Idaho grade! It is getting 18 to 20 mugs if driven nicely, all loaded down to boot with stuff in the service body. That's all for now, hope to get back on tts more frequently here soon!

Excuse the weird spelling, iPads suck. Borrowing the customers one for Internet use. Google Roseworth Idaho, not a town anymore, but a small farming area across a dangerous grade. Green giant wont raise sweet corn anymore, too many wrecks on lily grade, south of castleford Id

Battery about dead, ttyl guys! Damn the iPad battery!
