Hey guys maybe theirs already a thread but I couldn't find it. What I'm interested in is I've heard that the 6.5s with 18:1 cr are harder to start. I've noticed that in the sigs quite few of you have gone this route. I would appreciate some feedback on this mod. Going to have to rebuild mine sooner or later and thought I might start collecting pieces parts.

Don't know that it is a have to have item but like the idea to be safer at higher boost psi. Just looking to find the pros and cons.

My truck starts in -40 F, on the first crank, with the standard glow time, every time.:smile5:

I replace my glow plugs every 2 years and am able to do it so easily because the down pipe that I made for my truck creates full access to ALL on the passenger side.

CowRacer claims to have had issues with his 18:1 not starting as cleanly as his stock CR...

Hey Chi, check AK's location, you might have a day or 2 at minus 40, not weeks, see in sig has extra block heat with even stock CR I think it would be an issue with lowered CR, maybe not. Heath convinced me to not go to 18:1 as that is direction I was headed with mine, even sent the 18:1s I had in my hand back to vendor swapped for the stock CR.

not sure yet I'm still in the planning stages. Been collecting parts have a gear drive also my ata ic not sure what I want for ecm yet either. My thoughts so far assuming I can afford it are a balanced and blueprinted longblock with 18:1 cr mild porting (mainly gasket matching) not sure on turbo even gave some thought to a belt driven supercharger (no back pressure). I'd like as much performance as possible along with real good fuel economy.
