As some have seen in my photo album, my old 16.5 rims/tires are gone and I bumped down to 285/75R16 on 16x8 rims. They rubbed worse than my old 33s did, so I've sold those and have gone down even further to 265/75R16. These don't rub at all, but I am really struggling with the pizza cutter look on my truck. I recently saw a K2500 for sale with 16x10 rims with about a 4.25" backspacing on them and I started to get the itch again.

Does anyone in Ohio or eastern Indiana have a set of 16x10 rims with about a 4.25" backspacing I could put on to see how much they rub? If it's no worse than my old 33s did, then I might take the loss and go back to a nice fat tire so I can enjoy looking at my truck again.

...and if not, then is anyone running a set of these wheels that could tell me if they rub and how much on their K2500 or K3500 SRW?

That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to do the math, I guess, but I am having a hard time figuring out why my 285/75R16s on 16x8 rims rubbed worse than my 33-12.50x16.5s did. May be the difference in tire manufacturers, too, and shoulders. My Remingtons didn't have quite the sharp shoulder that the Mastercraft CT (285s) did.

I should have taken a physical measurement of the tread width, too. The numbers are reference only, from what I've learned.

Just to follow up. I found a set of 16x10 Eagle wheels with 285s on them and tried them last night. They probably rub about like my old 16.5s did. The tire really doesn't look that bad on the rim.

Sorry for the late response I've been out of pocket for awhile, my Burb has 8.7k+ suspension I run 295/75/16 e TOYO's no lift or cranking of bars however I trimmed the lower fender (steel) opening about 6" from bottom and 6" up on an angle then sealed it marine grade sealant result is no rubbing. Some front bumpers may need to be cut at trailing edge too...........Pre-runner front fenders will allow even larger diameter tire w/o lift.........end
