14 bolt pinion gear

Not sure if this is a limited slip,gov-lock, or something else. The pieces on the blue mat were wedged under the ring gear. They're from the pinion gear. Any advise on replacing the pinion gear would be super helpful.

Open diff. You'll need a gearset and some new bearings throughout. Your magnet has all kinds of swarf stuck to it. Gearsets are one unit. Not mix and match.

Yup, yer done. Full rebuild- no options. Shavings will be throughout the axles clear to the outer bearings.
Depending where you are in the country and what shops are near- it can be better to have it done at a specialty shop. In Vegas is a couple shops : Adams driveshaft and Dan’s driveline that can get the thing done in a day or two for only 20% more than cost of parts. I (and most the pro mechanic shops around) got to the point where I sold my case splitting tools because it is smarter to have them do it.

If you are determined To diy- start watching a ton of YouTube videos snd taking notes. If you don’t have the specialty tools it will cost you more to buy them then pay a specialty shop- you have to do a couple to break even. If you’re in your 20’s and gonna do this on multiple rigs - ok to learn it. The fastest thing you’ll learn is wishing all cars and trucks just had Ford 9” and was done with it. Haha

3500gmc is probably right but I thought it looked like a gov-lok. Maybe check your RPO codes in the glovebox for a g80

Rotate the carrier till you can see within where the spider gears are at. if you see this.... it's a gov-lock. if you only see spider gears then its the famous one wheel wonder!

if you don't see any open window in the carrier assembly then it could possibly be an eaton or detroit style locker.
