I believe it is, if you go knock on one of the bedsides, it has this real tinny sound to it, like it is thin shit.

No more than normal, my gripe seems to the paint that scratches just by looking at it

Don't know about thinner, but these newer trucks seem to have larger surfaces of sheet metal w/o creases. Bed walls are taller. That can make them seem more flimsy even if the same gauge as older models.
