Hey, I have a freind at work that would like to set up their F-150 ext cab short box to pull a 26' 6500# 5'ver. What all would you guys recomend that they do to the truck to get it ready to tow? any recomendations on the hitch, engine and tranny mods? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to ford (found on road dead) and needed some of your expert help. Thanks in advance.

Get a diesel. I was pulling my 30' TT with my 03 GMC 6.0L gasser. It would pull it. However, started noticing slips in tranny. I also added an intake and dual flowmaster exhaust. The truck would pull the camper, but with a diesel, its camper....what camper? Just my .02c

That's what i said, trade it in for a D-max :D but i guess it's not an option. Most people i have talked to have told me that they should really get a 3/4 ton and that was my advice to them as well, but oh-well, i did my best. I was just hoping that there were some mods that they could do to make it a pulling machine. After all Tim (Turbine Doc) will pull 18k with his 1500.
