I'm looking at buying an 02 LB7 with ALLISON and t-case off of EBAY for a project truck I'm doing. Is there anything in particuliar I should look for on these? I know that the injectors have been issues on these, but I am also seeing quite a few threads now regarding head gaskets. Are they also a weak area on them? Or just when modded? The one I am looking at is said to have 80K on it with new injectors in it that were just done not long back. The pictures show it to be pretty complete with most of the wiring and controllers there. ANd EFI LIVE should be able to stop the codes from it being in a different app if I'm not mistaken. I'm not looking for a high HP engine, just a reliable daily driver that I don't have to carry a full set of tools with me everytime I take a trip.

i think the head gasket issues were in the 01's and 02's more so than the later models. hopefully someone can chime in with a little more info for you.

yes 01-02's were prone to head gasket failure as well as injector failure. if your going with an LB7 just upgrade your filtration system to one like airdog or fass to help prevent injector failure. keep your coolant changed per the owners manual is the only suggestion I have for the head gasket failure, maybe some arb studs or a better gasket set would be better as well but someone with more experience will chime in.
