Glad you guys made it home safe!!
I got 20.5 in our 05 one day cruising 60 MPH on 2 lane roads, and that's the best it's ever done. Seems like the 5 speeds prefer 60-65, and the 6 speeds bump that another 10 mph or so. I definitely would have gotten an 06 if we'd have known...
Random/off topic: the GMC 4500 my dad's company has has 2 filler necks, but I never have to switch tanks. I always wondered about that. The front usually takes about 25 gallons, and the rear 10-15. It just pumps fuel from the rear tank into the front until the rear is empty? You can PM me if you...
I didn't mean that as a bad thing, for the record lol. I guess I'm just used to buildings and stuff here where we have -40° weather to deal with and crap. You don't need to build for that kind of weather, just hurricanes, lol.
Did you just keep the Suburban rear end, or did you have them...
Looks awesome!!! Are you just going to let them scrap out the Dually? It's funny how I'd have thought they'd be in some big fancy shop in an industrial park, and they're in a pole shed out in the country lol.
I do see what you're saying Will. And yeah, after working at the parts counter for a few months, it definitely seems like the engineers don't know what they're doing half the time...
Hopefully you found it out with a MultiMeter! :)
Ohhhh, sure, that makes sense. Odd that there's an outlet that it goes to also, but again, suits your needs well.
That's awesome. My parent's internet comes from a wireless signal from the grain elevator in town, so the antenna is actually on top of our shop. We just had them install a 2 port switch inside the shop, and can plug a router in there, then there's an ethernet that runs to the house for that...
Exactly. The whole point of blue is that it doesn't rattle apart when it's bolted together, but it doesn't take gorilla strength to remove either. Also, yeah, a lawnmower vibrates a lot, but I've seen applications that vibrate a lot more. Should have strapped it to an old 4BT Cummins for a day...
I feel like there is a lot more to it than just that one test though. Like schiker said, what about different bolts, different thread pitches, different loctite grades? They're made to work to a certain spec, not more. Just because one takes more torque to loosen, doesn't make it better in every...
The Ford is bigger in some ways, but still cramped in others. My girlfriend's dad is a big Ford guy, has a 2018 F350 on order. Interested to see it when he gets it, byt I still prefer my GM currently.
That's the "short" bed for the half ton crew's, the 5'8" bed. The 6'8" "standard" bed was available on the half tons in the K2Y body style (14-18) and I can't imagine they're going to take it away again. I'm sure the HD's, which will come out in 2021 by all accounts, will have the 6'8" bed...
Hey buddy, I'm doing pretty good. I went deer hunting, but only saw one doe within shooting distance and didn't get a shot at her. My dad got a very nice 12 point buck, and is getting it mounted. I'm gonna make a new post with what's going on with me in a bit, actually.
Looks good Red! Lots of good work.
Maybe build the spare 6.2 boost ready and swap it in with a turbo?
Sucks about the whole roommate situation. What prompted your move from TX to UT? Quite a major life change.
