    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Nice! an old trick I was told about re-using gaskets (carb base gaskets) I would assume it would work on these too, is to coat them in vasoline so they don't stick. that way you can re-use them when your other intake comes back ready to install.

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Can you get ahold of an aluminum spacer with the same size bolt hole? one of those could be welded onto the intake with a little grinding out where the leftover ear is.

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Just curious, would it be better to use studs there after all the re-threading is complete? If you aren't in a rush I may have an intake available once I can get the 6.5 out of my 93. it's intake had the provisions for the FFM ground off iirc. I was planning on using the intake off the...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

It could also be that the door pillar is tweaked too. when the door is closed, how are the body lines at the front fender? is the bottom also pushed out there as well?

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I believe on your rig, the hinges can be shimmed, they also make a tool that attaches to the striker and latch to help align the door too. I will let others chime in on that part.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

how are the pins and bushings on the hinges. that is usually where the issues are.

Well, lets hope they are still in good shape!

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

are valve guides something that a machine shop would have to install? your right on that, I really need to pull it down. maybe even talk to the local machine shop about running the heads through their cleaning vat for me. I don't think they would charge much for that.

Tractor pallet forks 48" vs 60"

with a tractor of that size, I would even look into a rear fork mast attachment. I may be wrong, but isn't most of the weight on them in the front with the engine? if the rear attachment points will support it, building a hookup for a real forklift mast for the back would give you all the joys...

Tractor pallet forks 48" vs 60"

I agree with Will here. longer forks to also help reach across the side of a trailer too. only drawback on them is with tight spaces. Once you drive the tractor with the forks, after a while you get used to them and will know it's limits. it will drive completely different than a forklift...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Oh yeah, what would have caused all this sludge on the top of the head? there wasn't any sludge in the pan, but all this gummy sludge on top looks like what a gas motor would do, I have never seen sludge build up in a diesel engine! always just a black film. If I am able to get the valves to...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

well guys, I made a little discovery. also a little archeology expedition on this engine!! I spent about 30 minutes pulling the rocker shafts off and out of the way. started pressurizing each cylinder and rapping on the valve stems one by one. chunks of carbon started flying out of both...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I figured I would go ahead and pull the rockers completely off where I could tap on the valve stem with a hammer. then on the two that have no compression, start blowing in the GP hole and tap, tap, tappity tap on the intake valve. since those two won't even build enough pressure to send the...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Don't have a leak down tester, but with all the rockers loosened, the two that had zero compression blowing into the GP hole with my blow gun and rubber tip it all comes out the intake port of the head. the others all have "some" air that goes out the intake ports. the only two that hold...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I had thought about it this morning of trying something that would help dissolve carbon like some berrymans B12 spray into the intake ports of the head, then using my blow gun in the port while tapping on the valve stem. if it's carbon deposits and they can be cleared that way maybe I won't...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

looking at some of the things on this early 6.2 being the rockers and the starter bracket both which seem a lot stronger it would seem like GM put in a lot of effort in designing these diesels in the beginning and then cheaped out on a lot once they were out on the market! Dam those GM bean...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

They look like they are a much better design than the button type. springs keep them in place, I guess one of those springs would have to break for them to walk off the valve or push rod. Not sure if they are cast iron or aluminum, I would need to clean them off to see. Heads will need to...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Update: I put the pan back on and flipped it right side up. pulled the intake and IP lines, then the valve covers... these rockers are unusual. not seen any like these before ither! I rotated the crank by hand to verify all valves were moving. All looked good. then I decided to loosen...
