Ended up with another aftermarket PS pump. This one isn't a reman. It's MUCH quieter throughout all RPM range. I do still have hard steering issues, mostly at a stop while holding the brake. I really need to tear my old one apart and maybe modify/rebuild it.

Asked my buddy if he is willing to sell the PS pump on the crusty plow truck. No response yet, but he is on vacation. So I don't blame him. I stopped by his place and dropped off the cash for the diff, took a look at the PS pump and it's crusty as hell. Might be salvageable, but I am not sure...

Just to settle my OCD, we checked the rear out. No issues there. This fluid was changed about 3 to 4-years ago when I got it. The rear cover was leaking so I had a shop replace it.

I will have to look. The truck is severely rotted, was worried it's condition but agree with you. I need to go back and drop off cash for the diff anyway

I think i will be swapping a PS pump, for the 3rd damn time. It's getting noiser, and for a while now low on effort while idle. Fluid is at full and clean. The first pump was leaking badly, replaced with a Cardone reman, that reman was utter garbage and replaced with a Napa refurb, which i...

The mutt is in, what a cumbersome piece to install. Test drove went well, all i could hear was rhe annoying power steering pump. I really want to replace it, so annoying being the 2nd pump ive put in. Time to get some miles on, oil change, rear diff fluid swap and t-case fluid check. Fingers...

It's together. Got a hodge-podge of parts. I can't find my dial indicator to save my life. We ended up using the donor case, gears, and bearings. Everything was disassembled and throughly cleaned. I pressed out my bushings that were in very good condition to the donor housing. Those bushings...

Grabbed some synthetic gear oil, anerobic sealer, degreaser, and the new TTX pitman and timken seals came in.

I could, but we would need to setup the gears. I don't have experience with that, would love to learn. Really thinking about running this units main case, with my pinion yoke, my stub shafts, my passenger axle tube extension, and my press in isolators. I'm getting crazy pressed for time, with...

It's definitely got some sludge inside. It also may have had water intrusion? Not sure what the orange looking color is. Breaings look much better. It did have some stub shaft play in the drivers side. More than I would have thought, but way less than mine. I notice today that my pinion is...

Got the secondary differential out. It was rough, that truck is nothing but junk. Completely rotted frame. Needed a map gas for nearly every bolt. Pounded several sockets on, etc. Some of the aluminum case is even disintegrating. Fluid is black, but not metallic. Some sludge on the magnetic.

It's base model, so cloth bench type. Back window has been blow out for a year or so. Critter and weather infiltration. Apparently their plan was to rally it in the backwoods but the rear frame snapped so quick it never happened.

Got the parts truck flopped tonight. It's a rot box for sure. I will be back Friday to inspect the differential better and hopefully remove. It has a skid plate under the diff, mine didn't. Part of me is thinking about the 4l60e for a shelf core unit. Maybe the airbag sensors is they cross...

I don't think the races spun in there but will have to take a closer look. I'm still waiting to get the plow truck flopped for inspection and removal of the other unit. Really thinking about tear down for inspection, and resealing the replacement unit at a minimum. I will have a hard time using...

There is definitely some ring gear wear. The coating removal id say is normal for 200k miles, but the outside edges are chewed up a bit and not sure if the wobbly bearing caused that? Or the shrapnel it ate in the meantime.

More. So the races are free spinning as well! We can pull them out with our hands!

It's downstairs draining now. Lots of metallic sludge. No big chunks of iron. The fluid is definitely old. I can't remember if I have ever changed this myself, ive definitely topped it off. So it may be REALLY old.

Not the most fun project, but it's out. Of course winter decided to come back just in time for this. Of course had to remove the pitman arm, again. Totally roasted the rubber on it. Also had to remove the drivers tie rod. Wonder what the nomenclature is on the wobbly output.
