    Ok everybody...…..Got the Coolant sensor replaced, took it for a long drive and it behaved itself. I guess we can call this one fixed. Thanks for everyones help.

    My 96 is OBD2. I have the new sensor but haven't put it in yet. By time I get home from work it's 97 degrees outside. I'll try and put it in tonight.

    Have you ever heard of a plumbers wrench? It's for reaching up to sink faucet connections from the bottom. Worked great for replacing that sensor without removing the intake.

    Had the codes read yesterday and it only had one. Coolant temperature sensor. Ordered a new sensor A/C Delco will be here today. Keep you updated on the results.

    I will have to see if any of these yahoo's around here know how to use a scanner. The check engine light will come on for a little while then go back out.

    I have a 96 6.5 and it keeps going into high idle all of a sudden. Sitting at a stop sign and it will lunge forward when it does it. Between 40 and 50 mph it keeps down shifting then upshifting continously. Replaced PMD. Got a #9 resister in it. Will 180 degree thermostats cause it to do that...

    In all actuality my truck never really gets hot. Runs on the cool side. Did it that one time in stop and go traffic pulling my camper going uphill.

    Sorry it took so long to reply on this thread. I got the Ac-Delco 15-80690 Fan blade and the Ac-Delco 15-4674 cooling fan clutch. Have not had a chance to put it on yet. Back in Nov. I was towing my camper (9,000 lbs.) up I-85 stop and go traffic uphill and it was pegging on 210 degrees. My butt...

    Just got my new cooling fan and clutch. Can't wait to put it on and see how well it works. Even though it's not hot yet.
