Thanks for the clarification on the solenoid. Got a link to one that would work? or is there an amperage rating/ certain set of parameters I should look for in one?
I'm referring to everything on the '95 being wired differently from what is normally the case. Ground and trigger wires are...
Thanks for chiming in Will. What's the difference between just hot wiring a switch to the glow plugs than having a solenoid in there?
Also any insight to the '95 relay being wired backwards but still working?
No doubt you can get junkyard knuckles cheaper, finding the unicorn ones is the hard part. When factoring in the price of reamers and the potential for messing up and having to start over the investment in a new set can appear as not too steep an investment is all I was saying
the unicorn knuckles are from '99-00 2500 Non- HD models. You can buy them new at 150 bucks a pop still, link here

Expensive, but so are the reamers and the risk of messing a knuckle up. I was lucky...
@dbrannon79 central transport has the cheapest freight options in my experience. I used Freightquote by C.H. Robinson once https://www.freightquote.com/ and it was slightly cheaper. But then I soured on them when I asked for the courtesy of a phone call when the driver was a half hour away or...
As far as I know the GMT800 LCAs don't have that bar across the "V" of the LCA, looks like BigT sent his extra pair of forged GMT400 lowers your way.
I have yet to drive my GMT800 swapped rig (still a project) but I was able to smush in my shocks to the existing mount on the 800 LCA but the...
Heads are most likely cracked just from age and GM casting. If no cracks then it's worth something.
Shipping via semi freight truck is somewhat affordable still, but you have to be able to load into the back of a truck from a shipping yard and receive at a shipping yard without incurring stupid...
I think we're saying the same thing, tying into the glow plug side of the relay (side closer to the passenger side, when looking at the engine from the front it's the terminal to the left) would energize the relay with the glow plugs on. Good point on the diode to stop backfeeding to the relay...
Thanks for the input gents. @dbrannon79 Thanks for the tip on the yellow wire coming from the PCM, not an option for the '93 though. I was wondering if the '95 relay was wired differently because it was also tied to the glow plugs. I think I could achieve the wait to start feature on the '93 by...
@jrsavoie the '95 is Leroy's. That's what has me somewhat confused, it's not wired "normally" but functions as intended.
Sounds like I can trigger from the glow plugs too to get pre start prime if you did the same and keep my wiring standard. Still don't understand how Leroy's works with the...
I know this subject has been covered before, but wanted to share my own adventure if for anything else to have a reference online for when I lose my notes
So on the 1993 dump truck that is nearing completion, I wanted to do the lift pump relay for obvious reasons. The previous owner had also...
For the 6.5 crowd the mechanical is more desirable. However for the average consumer I'd think the '95 with the "newer" looking interior compared to the '93 dash and cluster could be perceived as more aesthetic and preferable. But that's incredibly subjective. Same for the ABS/ lack thereof on...
I coincidentally wrote to the ebay seller of bare blocks in Virginia a week or so ago just out of curiosity to see where they are cast. I was told that the supplier of the blocks is Canadian, but that they are cast in Mexico. Was curious if anyone on here had ever seen one in person, I also...
tagging @n8in8or and @Big T as I think they own the reamers in question
If this is for your '95 that likely has the stamped steel LCAs, I'd recommend swapping them out to the GMT800 LCAs. The turning radius is better with the forged GMT400 lowers or GMT800 LCAs, but the advantage of swapping to...
I haven't been able to get mine to stop leaking out the bottom where the pitman arm attaches but maybe I put in a seal backwards, it's been a few years. The most maddening part of re-assembly was feeding those steel balls in along the worm gear shaft. They kept falling out so I eventually put in...
