The reason I'm so sure is because the mechanic that fixed my wiring also changed the timing. I think he retarded it. Then I took it to the only mechanic I could find that knew the 6.5 and he said the timing was off and he fixed it.

True. How much would a dealer charge to check the timing? And are the devices listed the only ones that work with the 6.5?

I never said I couldn't afford the mods. I just can't afford a dmax or a gasser. That's why I'm working on it. I'm willing to bet my left nut that the timing is good. Next step is a 4" exhaust and then a tune. Thanks a ton for everyone's advise and knowledge.

Exhaust is stock pipe, with no cat or muffler.

So I guess I never got a chance to see the "stock performance". When we got the engine installed the turbo was bad, along with bad injectors.

I rebounded the wires at the intake a couple months back. That was causing my ignition fuse to blow. I'll start running down the wiring in the morning.

It was completely stock and ran like a champ. I spun a bearing and had a new engine installed. Never been the same since. Can a chip really make that big of a difference? If so, I was thinking ssdiesel for a tune.
