Update on the new housing. I love it! Boost comes on more quickly as hoped, and there is a slight increase in boost on the top end as well. I get about 3-4psi at 2000rpm in normal driving, and 23-24psi on the top end vs 20-21 psi with the bigger housing. I reset the max temp. reading on my EGT...
I got some good work done today. I installed my T4 0.81a/r open scroll turbo from Boost Lab and fabricated a new down pipe adapter elbow. I cut the divider out of the BD Diesel T3/T4 adapter as well. Turbo side flange and clamp from SDP and down pipe side flange and clamp from Quadstar. All in...
I doubt it ate anything, it had an AFE filter on it that was in good shape. I'd put money on shaft play causing contact with the tips of the wheel, tips breaking off and bouncing around.
Will - couple things to remember with this turbo: it's got probably 100k on it +/-, it was purchased as a...
Not sure. I’d be willing to bet launching in 4wd for the first time didn’t help it. It also has about 100k on it with unknown origin parts. It was originally bought off eBay as a new/reman HX40/H1C hybrid. A friend of mine had it on a 93 12 valve and put probably 60k on it. Hard miles too. The...
Thanks Nate! I didn’t plan on doing the “resto” work to it but the truck had other plans. Yes it does have front shocks now, I installed them 2 days before my excursion to PA.
Totally valid question. I changed the oil shortly after and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. As said, about 2500 miles since the swap and nothing abnormal about it.
Couple things I forgot:
Front shock hoops are from Sky Off-Road, dual steering stabilizer is Sky Jacker, all shocks and steering stabilizers are BDS Nitro.
Also I removed my 6 year old Diamond Eye exhaust and installed a new one. Same thing, just painted this one and not running a tip this...
Before starting this section of the update, I'd like to mention that the wheels and tires are Nitto Ridge Grapplers in a 35x12.50-18 around Pro Comp 1069 alloy 18x9 wheels. Okay, continue.
The next couple things that happened with the truck were aesthetic and cosmetic. My current plan (as it...
Well, let's up this thread, shall we?
A lot has changed on the truck in the last year or so since I posted here.
I will recap as best as I can. Be warned, there are not a lot of pictures of the work itself. I think the pictures will be their own post, this one is already too long.
The solid...
Yes I did hear that. Very sad. I'm glad I got to race there this year. I understand that they will continue to hold events there, just with no racing. Copart is the reason.

I think the phrase I would use is "putting on hold" the 6.5. I don't want to have two daily driver trucks, because I know I wouldn't drive them equally. And I love my green truck too much (it's my first vehicle, owned it for 6 years) to not have it be my daily driver truck. So that means the...
The ride sucks with the torsion bars up. I'll price springs from ORD but I think I'll wind up with Sky Jacker.
Picking up a wrecked LBZ tomorrow to tear the engine and trans out of. 3.73's and 35's would be no match for 360hp and 650ftlbs.

Yup 47" front square body springs. Sky Jacker has a spring with 1.5-2.5" lift. I think with the heavier weight of a 6.5 it will be closer to 1.5". The ORD kit nets 3" itself. So all said and done it should be around a 4-5" lift. I am hoping to be able to run either a 33 or 35 with either looking...
Let's dig this thread up once more. Looks like the truck is gonna be getting a new pair of axles under it, a Dana 60 front at the very least.
So as is likely the case for many of you, I find myself replacing at least one ball joint a year, or some other relatively PITA front end component...
Well the truck is finally running and driving correctly again. But I have now discovered new issues. More on that later.
I have been building the lift pump/pre filter bracket at a friend's house, using rough measurements that I took of the frame. The issue here is I can't periodically check to...
Update time. Spent a few hours tonight revising my fuel filter bracket to incorporate the new lift pump. I'm glad to have gotten the updated ("4G") Raptor pump, however it initially posed its own challenges due to being slightly larger than the previous pump. Without getting too specific, the...
