I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. I experienced something similar to this and after a transmission shop sold me on having my tranny rebuilt and still having problems, it ended up being the transfer cases shift fork. Turns out the transfer case I had had an older style fork that...
don't forget to remove your serpentine belt otherwise you'll just have your water pump pushing around the coolant. I've got to get around to doing mine also... I've been waiting for good weather and I think it's warm enough here now.
If torque to yield bolts have a problem with stretching, would it be wise to use ARP head studs? Would it even be possible without removing the motor on a 94 K2500 pickup?
FellowTraveler, regular TTY head bolts already come with sealant on the threads right? Not sure about the heads studs...
Thanks WarWagon! That's exactly what,I was going to do but was going to leave the belt on I thint I understand why I should take the belt off.... keep the coolant from being pushed out by the water pump right? I'll take your advice and keep my fingers crossed for at the most cracked heads...
Cooling system began to pressurize and as a result my surge tank has been letting go of it's contents. I've been doing a lot of reading before diving in and it seems like the general consensus is to use Fel-Pro head gaskets. I have some brand new Victor Reinz head gaskets and was wondering...
For what it's worth, I did plugin my GMTDScan tech and it wouldn't read the trouble codes. It kept giving me INVALID PCM RESPONSE. I had this happen before so I did the paperclip method with the accelerator and brake pedals pressed to clear the codes. I didn't bother to wait for what codes...
Picked up my truck in Norfolk, VA after shipping it out about 40 days before hand. When I drove it, I noticed that it liked to drop out of OD constantly and of course my MPG suffered. I think I only had about 95 miles on the trip meter when the fuel level needle hit the full line. The...
Used this one recently:
OPS connector jumper to bypass a failed OPS. Take note that this will peg out your oil pressure gauge. The paperclip is also handy to pull the DTC codes from the ALDL port.
Help me out here with the use of the picture above that shows the two hoses. I have them oriented as I would have them installed while standing in front of the truck. Upper opening to thermostat housing and lower opening to the radiator. Flip it around?
My hopes for this thread is a compilation of experiences that we've encountered on the road or off with our 6.5/6.2's and what was done temporarily to get us back on the road to the nearest shop, home or ultimate destination. With that being said, I present to you what I hope to market and make...
The SSD lift pump I had on prior to the AC Delco pump I have on now was a replacement to the prior AC Delco pump I had on when I got slimed (original when I took ownership of the truck). So, I'm 2 lift pumps into it. SSD lift pump brand new out of the box pumped out only 3.5 psi max at idle...
