Tried an experiment. I bought a cheap spark plug tester, found a plug that was so bad it wouldn't do anything. Took a torch to it and got the metal body a dull red . Then cleaned it and the video is the result.
So a few weeks ago I pulled my 416C backhoe into my shop to deal with a coolant leak. I Started off working on the thermostat housing which was a common leak area. The housing is plastic. Looking around on ebay I found a cast aluminum housing and got that. No bueno it still leaked. So...
So last fall I picked up an 07 MDX for $500 for a replacement for my wife's 04 MDX which has 315k on it. They said it had a rod knock. We started it up and drove it on the trailer, it clattered really loudly. Even back then my thought was it just didn't quite sound like a rod bearing...
So I recently did a timing chain, balance chain, waterpump on a 2011 malibu. Biggest pain on the whole job was the water pump. They make a special tool for doing it without removing the timing cover but I don't know as I'd want to tackle that. The waterpump bolts to the engine side of...
Working on my son's 89 k2500. The PO had taken out the tbi engine and swapped in a (I think) 70s sbc. I got all the gauges to work and it charges now so so far so good. I read online that I can swap a 91 instrument cluster and everything should work, my question is about the tach...
So my buddy recently refreshed his 6.5 and we noticed something odd. They show a standard volume pump without a spacer and then a standard volume pump with a spacer and finally a high volume pump which also has a spacer. Turns out the gears on both pumps with spacer are the same and...
Thought I'd start a thread on gardens since it looks like we're going to be relying more on ourselves for food nowadays. Got ours rototilled today. Lot's of lime and some 8-32-16 with some 22-4-4 for the above ground plants.
So I decided to start a thread on this engine in my wife's car. It's a 2004 Acura MDX. I originally paid $700 for it and had to fix the engine with a burned valve. That was about 3 years ago and 80-100k miles ago. Well here I am again with a burned valve, interestingly enough it's the same...
So as some of you may know I've been talking about this girdle for quite awhile. Well I'm finally getting around to starting on it. Don't expect it to be done anytime soon, I don't seem to get anything done quickly. Lol I picked up the cast iron I'm using probably a couple of years ago. Most of...
The drafting software I'm using says my video card won't support 3d views. It says I need one that is shader 6. Never heard of that. Also said it needs to support directx 12. Little bit of searching I did I was blown away by the prices. Are there any reasonably priced ones out there?
So I picked up an 08 GMC Acadia yesterday. The guy selling it said it had a blown engine but it still ran and drove. So I went and looked at it, body is in decent shape. When it was started it knocked pretty good and then quieted down. When you put the engine under load it would knock but not...
So I decided it was time to see if I could repair my mirror switch on my plow truck. I have 3 switches so I sacrificed one to see if I could do anything with it. Turns out I had to make 4 notches in the housing to insert a small pick into to release the rocker portion of the switch.
After that...
So my question is if a later model 4l80 is used, that has the bigger lines, is it an issue to use the smaller line cooler in the radiator?
@THEFERMANATOR
I'm mostly worried about flow and lubrication
