1999 chevy suburban 6.5 turbo diesel

The AutoMeters are a bit pricy but, cheaper than cleaning up after a diesel bath. I use the Cobalt Series, 0-30 PSI, Blue LED. Currently $245 from AutoMeter. https://www.autometer.com/2-fuel-press-0-30-psi-fse-cobalt.html You may be able to find them at another distributor such as Summit or...

I understand the concerns. This might help for quick referencing.

1999 chevy suburban 6.5 turbo diesel

Sounds like you're on point with the pressure. For a ground, you can use anything convenient to the IP Harness... the intake manifold bolts will do. After checking the extended harness, if there's an anomaly, check the harness at the IP. That will confirm or deny the extended harness'...

1999 chevy suburban 6.5 turbo diesel

I see MrMarty51 already responded but, I'm too lazy to re-edit this a second time. So, to reiterate OEM pumps, and some aftermarket lift pumps, should they fail will still allow the IP to draw fuel from the tank and, therefore, keep running. Hence, "Flow on Fail." When a non-flow on fail pump...

1999 chevy suburban 6.5 turbo diesel

Note for the future: The Raptor series pumps are not 'flow on fail.' Just tuck that tidbit away should a 'no pressure' issue manifest itself later down the road.

Save or Kill this K2500 Suburban 6.5

Just a bout anything can be saved if you’ve got the time and BitCoin. This one isn’t too far gone from what we can see. Looking under it will tell you more of the story. Interior as well…what’s been living in the engine bay as well as nesting in the seats. But, no nests in the glove box so...

Drove it around with "all her flags on her flying." I also portrayed Thomas Jefferson in a one man, 5 min. skit talking about the Declaration of Independence.

I was going to post another one locally for sale but, didn't want to derail the thread. Sorry AK.

$4000 in caldwell ID. Dash picture indicates you might have a little bit to do on it. Either that, or the owner took the picture before starting the truck...

    CV Axle Seperation

Test drive went fine. 4high and lo as desired. A little sticky coming out of 4lo but it sorted out. Next project(s)!

    CV Axle Seperation

With reference to post #147, the only time the differential moved while suspension flexed was when the half-shaft came out of the tri-pot creating a wedging force against the tri-pot and, therefore, the differential causing the differential to shift to the passenger side on the bushings holding...

    CV Axle Seperation

Before I started removing material, I double checked the area and, in looking in from the front noticed another fin that wasn’t visible that also needed addressing. “Measure twice, cut once” vs. “I’ve cut it twice and it’s still too short.” Differential fins are ground off. Oil pan...

    CV Axle Seperation

But quite but, in true family tradition, my oldest granddaughter was miffed at me when I took away the brake cleaner she was using to remove dirt and such from the pumpkin. Ok, I’m killing time before going up to SLC for an appointment at the VA…Long story recap follows. Issues: Other than...

    CV Axle Seperation

The more I look at the pan, I’m willing to bet this dent was originally caused by member 635 from when he had this engine in his 1998 K3500 and failed to notice the differentials proximity. He didn’t do the install himself so….

    CV Axle Seperation

I appreciate the concern. However, I’m not removing the whole cooling fin. I’ve done the consulting and I’m sure that removing approximately 1” by maybe a half inch half-moon’s worth of material isn’t going to alter anything structurally.

    CV Axle Seperation

The pan isn't smiling so much as leering. What we can't see is the 'bird' it's giving me out of frame. Unfortunately, in my case, the pans are not interchangeable because of differences in rear main seals. 6.5s are single piece whereas the 6.2's from 1982-1990 had a two piece rear main seal...

    CV Axle Seperation

It is the oil pan that is causing the clearance issues. 6.5 vs 6.2 pan molding / modeling differences are the cause of the clearance. Here's a 6.5 pan to which I've added the markings as follows: The blue shows where my 6.2 pan differs as the 45 ish angle highlighted in yellow is not present...

    CV Axle Seperation

Sagging…My chest, yes. Mounts…doubtful. My engine block is an N/A 6.2 599 block so the oil pan is a little different. I do remember that little tidbit but, I don’t know if the front differential designs changed much and this one came from a salvage yard given the OEM unit’s upper mount broke the...
