94 extended cab light duty 2500. This truck has the optimizer 6500 it with absolutely no blow by. The 4l80E has just recently been rebuilt and works great. The trans probably has 1500 miles on it since the rebuild. I installed the 3” down pipe with 2.5” crossover. I have done the fuel pump relay...
I’m really not sure and that’s why I’m asking but after looking at all the torque specs I can find I’m not seeing any that show torque plus a degree or multiple passes. I kind of thought TTY bolts were torqued and then turned a certain degree
Thanks for checking. I doubt he’d want to wait that long and I don’t really want his truck in my shop that long if I don’t have to. I’m guessing most people do reuse those bolts seeing as how they aren’t found easily.
I’m rebuilding a 6.5 for a guy and I think the main bolts should be replaced. Aren’t they tty bolts? I can’t seem to find replacements. I know the best thing to do would be install studs be he’s not going to put out $400 for a set. Anyone know where a stock set can be found? Thanks guys
I’m sorry I wasn’t so much saying that the air throttle is operating relative to throttle position and controlling rpm as I was more just stating that they are now controlling the air entering the intake with the use of an electronically driven butterfly valve where the turbo is still able to...
@Will L. on the air and exhaust throttles. deere is using them on FT4 engines and the main purpose of both them is to do the same thing which is to raise exhaust temp before and during dpf regen. The 4 cylinder engines use both if it has a vgt turbo and only the air throttle with a waste fated...
Thats right it’s the basics. Now I feel like I should go back to school. Especially now where there are Diesel engines using air throttles and exhaust throttles.
That would be awesome if you could get a kit built for the center mount turbo guys to give them more options. I’ve seen a couple...
The obd1 does not use the koko procedure. I am able to set and check pump timing use GMTD scantech. I have tried it at -.75 up to -1.94 and it seemed to me to start and run better at -1.94 so that is where it is currently set. If it takes 5 seconds of cranking for your truck to start you may...
Haha @Will L. no micro aggression here. The tractor is mainly for mowing and property maintenance I got out of farming a long time ago. Hard to pay the bills with it as least in my part of Arkansas. This is Walmart home office territory so a lot of money around here pushing the farming out
We...
I know it’s supposed to be the same thing but usually it worse because the problem we have around here is the majority of the places that sell off road fuel are more rural fuel stations and they store it in above ground tanks and it usually stays in those tanks longer as it’s not sold quick...
Yes welcome @royunion. I have heard over and over that the gm turbo has a choke hold on this engine and after reading warwagons provided link in this thread along with other threads related to this subject I firmly believe it and that is why I am here asking for more info.
I feel that I have...
Another thought. I suppose with any turbo I choose I’m going to need to install head studs? From what I’m understanding to make the most out of an upgraded turbo I’d probably be wanting to see closer to 20 psi boost right? As the att doesn’t use a wastegate there’s no way to really keep its...
At this point the budget really could only do either the turbo and tune or maybe gears and converter not sure about those two as I haven’t really priced those parts. Since it’s 4wd I’d be looking at 2 sets of gears and a lot of work and I’d hate to by another converter right away since I just...
The gearing of my truck is a good point I didn’t really consider. So it’s not really a simple stick a different turbo on it tune it and go. I’m going to need something that brings the boost in low because of the higher gears and keeps it “available” at cruising speeds for when I get to hill...
@WarWagon i don’t want to push it beyond its limits. I would say I exaggerated that number. Honestly I’ll probably only be pulling more like 7-8k and it won’t be frequent but I don’t want to be that guy with the hazards on pulling a hill. This part of Arkansas is nothing but hills.
So I am...
Jay, I forgot to put in the signature that this is a vin S truck so it does still have the vac pump to keep the egr happy although all it has is the solenoids and map sensor. I am currently only running the turbo master at around 10 psi peak to keep from getting any codes.
I have heard the ATT...
So I’ve finally got my truck starting good, running good and shifting good for a mostly stock truck. I think the Teds trucks optimizer is going to last me a long time. I’ve got about 1500 miles on it and the oil is still clean and no blow by so I think it’s time to get it to where I need it. I...
