Welcome to The Truck Stop. Lots of good folks here with lots of knowledge and experience to help you out of almost anything you might get yourself into. Trucks, that is.
Just my .02 worth, but when I did a complete brake redo on my car trailer it was cheaper to convert it to electric than to rebuild the actuator, new lines, and brakes. And now I also have a little bit more control over my brakes.
There used to be a kit offered by mrtaillight.com., but i don't think they offer it anymore. They do offer some of the parts for the swap. It didn't require anything but cosmetic changes and some wiring harness changes.
When you say "cheyenne", you mean work truck grille, right?
That is one fluid I never would of thought of, but I can see it working. My concern would be once it lost its rust eating capability would it contribute to returning rust?
My Dad has a Ford 3000 3 cylinder engine tractor that was running fine when he parked it. It sat for almost two years outside and now the motor won't turn over. He's tried to break it free by dragging the tractor around and engaging the clutch to no avail. He wants to put some type of oil/fuel...
Made it back
No problems on the way home, although I tended to be near that 1200*F exhaust temp alot. Tried Lucas brand fuel conditioner on the way home and fuel mileage went down; 7-9 mpg average. My main aggravation is how easily the wind meddles with this truck/trailer. Trailer only weighed...
We made it! No problems until we hit torrential rains with really strong winds by Mitchell, SD. 40-45 mph crosswind was too much for the 'ol girl; had to resort to coming out of overdrive and running 40 mph for about 40 miles to keep all the temps in line; got to Wall and stopped for lunch and...
So this Friday I'm loading up the family, hooking on to the fiver, and heading to the Black Hills for a week of "relaxation". If, God forbid, the 'ol 6.5 decides to throw a tantrum, do any of you have the name, address, number, of any 6.5 friendly repair shops along the way? I'll be going west...
Fixed it at last
I learned a very important lesson through this; never rush a job.
I started by swapping out the relay which didn't change a thing. I decided to replace the brake switch and didn't bother to diconnect the batteries as I didn't think power was on constant here. Touched metal...
Ok... to start off I don't know if my brake lights were working before I started what I'm about to describe below.
Bought a new to me car trailer and redid all the lights and made it a seven blade plug. I had a old bumper plug on the truck that was a six wired into a 4 flat that was plugged...
I checked Tiger Direct and the usual outlets and have found it for about $650. The replacement numbers are from a reputable shop in my area so I know what I order will be a proper replacement. I'm just seeing if anybody has a favorite not-known-to-most place to order parts like this. These...
I broke my screen on my TV-- ok, I know its not technically a computer, but it is a smart TV so it has a processor and this was the best place to post, I think. Anyway, does anyone know of a good ( read cheap here) place to get repacement screens. I have a 55" LG 3D and the corresponding...
I did have on AND they repaired it. Must of had a good distributor or luck. I had a section come loose after about six months. Tore about a 8 inch gash and pulled a small section up. The distributor cut out around it and resprayed the area. Matched pretty well.
