How did the Cometics leak at the end port, since there is only one coolant port on those (not ambidextrous).
Were you getting compression in the cooling system?
Did the physical fire ring move?
Finally, did you pull a compression test before pulling the head? That'll tell you where...
You'll regret the head studs. I don't think there is a way to reliably seal these things long-term.
As for the verification, you can reuse the main bolts, no problem. You can use the rod bolts, no reason not to use them if the engine is low mile or just a test run.
About your oil pump. I...
I show around 32psi on the gauge in the cab, but the sensor on the dyno showed 29, dunno what it was actually doing because we had to disconnect the in-cab gauge for the pulls (place to tap pressure).
The DSG kit is intended to be installed in running engines and during rebuilds.
It will likely change the alignment, how much and how critical, dunno, worth a check. Not enuf to get worried over. I've done this girdle in several engines w/o any ill effects.
By far the Victor Reinz has the largest fire ring. I think I like their 6.5 gasket better than the Felpro. I certainly like their 6.2 gasket better than the Felpro 6.2 gasket. I won't use a Felpro 6.2 gasket on anything any more. The current Victor gasket looks almost identical to the Felpro...
Sorry, I don't need to hi-jack this thread any more...
Here is the thread with the dyno run papers...

Dyno session with the 1982 C10 SWB truck that I have routinely drag raced for almost three years now with the same 6.5TD engine.
The image is kinda big, it's posted on my website (not really much a site, but host).

It's...
That's at the wheels, so the engine's making more at the flywheel. How much more, it's all a guess because of different drivetrain losses from transmission and differentials. It's an Automatic 700R4.
I'll have the scans of the dyno runs tomorrow, need to borrow the scanner at work.
Thanks...
Finally, some dang results. Poor weather, and run day still crappy (40 degrees and humid).
No, no 350HP, not even. I'm now understanding the importance of keeping stuff the same as the last time you ran kind of thing. Tires and gear ratio have a bearing on what you get on the chart/paper...
Clearances.
As for filing an oversized ring, you're out of luck there, as there isn't an oversized ring for these engines. The only way you'd get one would be to get a set of rings from Total Seal. I'd only use Total's Top and Second ring, their oil ring sucks and they are all file to fit...
Why do the majority of freight companies take such poor care of their freight?
I'm in the middle of a freight claim from shipping a used 6.5 and they broke the crate, messed up all the tin and want to only offer me .10 per lb because it's a used engine.
If you see a Road Runner truck...
Post a sound clip of the engine cranking.
Ether isn't all that bad. Just give if a whif while having someone crank it, or vice versa.
In my experience, WD40 doesn't do anything. If the engine is low on compression, everything has to be perfect injection and glow wise for it to start.
